UPDATE2: Sechin elected chairman of Russia's Inter RAO UES board

MOSCOW, Jun 25 (PRIME) -- Igor Sechin, president of Russian oil major Rosneft, on Tuesday joined the board of directors of power holding Inter RAO UES and was further elected as its chairman, RIA Novosti reported.
Sechin was approved the board's chairman at the first meeting of the new board elected by the company's shareholders on Tuesday.
Besides Sechin, new members to the board of directors are Vladimir Potanin, general director of metals giant Norilsk Nickel, and Ronald J. Pollett, president and CEO of U.S.' General Electric (GE) in Russia.
Eight members of the previous board of directors were reelected to the new board. They are: Inter RAO UES' CEO Boris Kovalchuk; Vnesheconombank's CEO Vladimir Dmitriyev; Russian Grids' CEO Oleg Budargin; nuclear corporation Rosatom's First Deputy CEO Alexander Lokshin; non-commercial partnership Sovet Rynka (Market Council) CEO Vyacheslav Kravchenko; member of Gazprom's management board Kirill Seleznyov; Gazprom Energoholding CEO Denis Fyodorov; and industrial corporation Rostec Deputy CEO Dmitry Shugayev.
Grigory Kurtser, president of Russian Regional Development Bank, who worked as Inter RAO UES' board chairman, as well as Ferdinando Beccalli-Falco, president and CEO of GE in Europe, and Norilsk Nickel Vice President Vladimir Strzhalkovsky left Inter RAO UES' board.
Inter RAO UES controls a number of power generating and distribution assets, with the combined installed capacity of its power facilities amounting to over 32.8 gigawatts.
