PRESS: Digital ministry offers to compensate for 5G resource withdrawal
MOSCOW, May 16 (PRIME) -- RussiaТs Digital Development Ministry has offered to pay compensation to operators of fixed Internet access for a loss of frequencies for 5G unrolling, and experts say payments will not exceed 2Ц5% of total capital expenses for new networks, business daily Kommersant reported on Thursday.
A part of connection systems in bands of 3.4Ц3.8 GHz will be switched off, according to a draft concept of creation and deployment of 5G in the country. It will take place after March 11, 2021 if a decision of the State Radio Frequency Commission that allocated the resource becomes invalid.
Disconnection is explained by purposes of development of economic and technical potential of the country and could entail compensation to operators working in towns counting over 250,000 people, the document read.

Head of TMT Consulting Konstantin Ankilov said the operators that had received the 3.4Ц3.8 GHz band unrolled fixed wireless Internet assess WiMAX and similar technologies.
ZTE Russia Senior Vice President Tigran Pogosyan said, citing experts, that compensation for a lost frequency resource should not exceed 3.5Ц4.5 billion rubles or 2Ц5% of total capital expenses on construction of 5G networks.
