PRESS: Rostelecom promotes own unit as single equipment supplier
MOSCOW, May 13 (PRIME) -- Russian state-controlled telecom and digital company Rostelecom has offered to appoint its subsidiary as the single supplier of computing equipment under government procurements, business daily Kommersant reported on Friday quoting a source.
The supplies in question could not be only for the government, but also for commercial companies. The source said the idea is being discussed, but it is severely criticized by the country’s other IT integrators.
A source close to the Digital Development Ministry told the daily that Rostelecom may monopolize the supplies to Russia of servers, systems of data storage, and sale of cloud services.
The ministry said that it knows nothing about Rostelecom’s initiative and does not support the whole single supplier idea.
