Putin signs decree on e-passport, equal via Gosuslugi to real

MOSCOW, Sep 19 (PRIME) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree on the digital passport, according to the relevant document released late on Monday on the official portal.

The decree says that the information of the documents certifying the identity of a person in the electronic form via state services portal Gosuslugi is equal to the presentation of such documents.

The information is to be presented via the mobile application of federal state information system Unified Portal of State and Municipal Services.

“Mobile application Gosuslugi can be used instead of paper documents – certificates, certified extracts, references, licenses, passport – only in certain domestic cases. Digital copies will not replace the original documents,” the Digital Development Ministry said in a statement.

The ministry said that the use of the application is voluntary and the paper documents keep their status.
