Roscongress cancels Russia House at World Economic Forum 2019
MOSCOW, Dec 6 (PRIME) -- The Roscongress Foundation, organizer of exhibition events, has cancelled organization of the Russia House at the World Economic Forum 2019 in Davos as some Russian businessmen were prohibited to participate in the forum, Roscongress said in a statement on Thursday.
УThe Roscongress Foundation has stopped preparing business program events for the Russia House project in Davos due to the restrictions imposed on participation of Russian businessmen in the World Economic Forum,Ф the statement read.
The Russia House, the official Russian residence, was to operate in Davos from January 21, 2019 through January 25, 2019, and to become an international platform for meetings and dialogue about economic, cultural, scientific, and technical cooperation.
Previously, the Financial Times reported that tycoons Oleg Deripaska and Viktor Vekselberg as well as VTB BankТs CEO Andrei Kostin were barred from participating in the forum. Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said in late November that Russia would not go to the forum if the restrictions are not lifted, while President Vladimir Putin said later that Russian businessmen may go to Davos on their own.
