Russia not to leave possible EU restrictions for goods unanswered

Lavrov10MOSCOW, Oct 5 (PRIME) -- Russia will not leave possible new restrictions for Russian goods on the E.U. markets unanswered, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Monday before a meeting with the members of the Association of European Businesses.

“The European Commission has prepared a report with a long name something like ‘On Significant Imbalances in the Russian Economy for investigation in the sphere of trade protection,’ he said.

“I think you understand what I am talking about. The document is openly biased, and it may cause additional restrictions for access of Russian goods to the E.U. market, which will obviously not be left without retaliation as you understand.”

Lavrov also said that politicization of energy cooperation hurts the basis of European security.

“The Americans are not worried, they are absolutely satisfied by the fact that competitiveness of entire sectors of the European industry will be undermined by the higher costs for more expensive gas. That is why politicization of energy cooperation is just an another blow on the basis of what we call the European security,” he said.
