Russia suspends pork imports from Belarus over African swine fever
MOSCOW, Aug 30 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Oversight has imposed a temporary ban on pork supplies from Belarus, the service said in a statement Friday.
The ban was introduced “due to the unfavorable situation with the African swine fever virus in Belarus”, the statement read.
The measure covers meat that was treated below 72 degrees Celsius for 30 minutes, which guarantees the elimination of swine fever viruses.
The ban will be valid until the disease has been eradicated or the imposition of rules determining the sanitary status of meat suppliers.
