Russian stocks close higher backed by growth of US floors
MOSCOW, Mar 26 (PRIME) -- Russian stocks closed higher on Thursday following an increase of the U.S. stock exchanges, analysts said.
The MOEX Russia Index rose 1.52% to 2,489.97 and the RTS grew 3.60% to 1,017.03.
УThe MOEX Russia Index and the RTS Index switched to growth by the end of trading after an unexpected increase on the U.S. stock exchanges,Ф Veles Capital analyst Yelena Kozhukhova said.
The foreign background was mixed. Trading on the U.S. floors started with growth of three main indices, which were rising by 3Ц4% by the end of the Russian session. On European floors, moderately negative moods prevailed. †
Brent and WTI oil quotations were losing around 0.5Ц3% by the end of the day.
Oil and gas company Surgutneftegas, gold producer Polyus, and precious metals producer Polymetal were among growth leaders, adding 8.71%, 10.53% and 4.25%, respectively.
Flagship carrier Aeroflot and diamond mining giant ALROSA were among outsiders, losing 2.86% and 1.87%, respectively.
