ALROSA says raises diamond sales by 16% to $339 mln in July
MOSCOW, Aug 10 (PRIME) Ц Russian diamond mining giant ALROSA raised July sales 16% on the year to $339.1 million, including $333.8 million of sales of rough diamonds and $5.3 million of sales of polished diamonds, the company said in a statement on Friday.
In JanuaryЦJuly, sales of rough and polished diamonds grew by 9% on the year to U.S. $3.029 billion, it said.
Sales of rough diamonds amounted to $2.973 billion, and sales of polished diamonds reached $55.3 million.
УCompared to last year, demand for rough diamonds is more balanced Ц almost all diamond categories benefit from continuing demand on the key markets globally. In July, there was a minor seasonal softening on the market in the run up to August holidays, but not as intensive as last year. Demand for expensive high-quality diamonds keeps strong in the seven months,Ф the company quoted its Deputy CEO Yury Okoyomov as saying.
