Avtodom says to import Chinese cars Forland to Russia
MOSCOW, Apr 28 (PRIME) -- Russian car dealer Avtodom plans to import Chinese light commercial vehicles (LCVs) and medium duty trucks Forland to start sales in July–December, the company said in a statement on Friday.
“In late April, Avtodom and Mercedez-Banz RUS signed a distributor agreement in China in the Zhucheng city of the Shandong province on the supplies of Forland cars to Russia. Thus, the companies obtained exclusive rights for imports of light duty and medium duty chassis of the Forland brand and defined plans for expansion of the joint business,” the statement read.
The company plans to import Forland cars with a full weight ranging from 3.5 tonnes to 18 tonnes.
“The segment of commercial transport is an important strategic direction of business that we plan to expand by attracting reliable partners from Russia and other countries among other measures … Sales in Russia are scheduled for the second half of 2023,” Avtodom CEO Andrei Olkhovsky said as quoted by the company.
Avtodom closed an acquisition of Russian assets of Mercedes-Benz, including a plant in the Moscow Region, on Tuesday. On Wednesday, Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov said that the German car producer had an option for buyback of its plant in the Moscow Region for six years.
