Bulgaria suggests direct Russian gas supplies via Black Sea

Truba10MOSCOW, May 21 (PRIME) -- Russia should consider direct gas supplies to Bulgaria via the Black Sea, Bulgarian President Rumen Radev said on Monday.

УRussia has always been a strategic energy partner as a supplier of natural gas, oil, nuclear fuel, as a participant of modernization, support of nuclear power utilities in Bulgaria,Ф Radev told Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

УEnergy supplies security is a very important issue for both Bulgaria and the E.U. This is why I hope that our governments will reconsider the possibility of direct gas supplies from Russia across the Black Sea.Ф

In December 2014, Russia decided to construct TurkStream, a gas pipeline that could run to the TurkeyЦGreece border to replace South Stream, supposed to carry Russian gas to the Bulgarian port of Varna. The project cancelled partially on E.U. demands.
