CEO: Aeroflot proposes to cut Russian airlines’ fleet

MOSCOW, Dec 4 (PRIME) -- Russian flagship carrier Aeroflot’s CEO Vitaly Savelyev has suggested major air carriers work out a consolidated position and a possible cut of their fleets, he said on the sidelines of a forum on Thursday.

“Actually we must agree and suspend some planes of all airlines. Then we will leave them in airports, yes, we will make (leasing and other) payments for them, we will raise prices (for tickets), but all this will be offset,” he said.

Aeroflot’s CEO refused to be the initiator of a corresponding agreement between the companies as has no such powers, he said.

At the moment Russian airlines have to carry flights with incomplete loading due to low demand.
