CEO: Rusagro can cut sugar beet area, keep sales flat
MOSCOW, Mar 20 (PRIME) -- Russian agricultural holding Rusagro plans to reduce the area sown to sugar beets but keep sugar sales on the level of previous years, CEO Maxim Basov said at a conference call late on Monday.
“We think that reduction of the sown area of sugar beet will not be significant, no more than 10%,” Basov said.
He said that the company may sell 400,000 tonnes of sugar from reserves in January–August and produce and sell 35,000 tonnes of molasses sugar. The amount of production and sales in September–December will depend on the harvest, Basov said.
