Cbank sees regulation of used spare car parts market necessary
MOSCOW, May 11 (PRIME) -- The government should regulate the used spare car parts market to prevent car theft and worsening of the criminal situation in Russia, Ilya Smirnov, director of the insurance market department of the central bank, told PRIME on Thursday.
In April, Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Moiseyev said that the government may allow car repairs with used spare parts under the obligatory car insurance contracts.
УThere are several tough aspects about the used spare parts. This is an issue of security in the first place. A method of quality evaluation of these parts is necessary so that the cars that were repaired with used parts donТt become a cause of new car crashes and casualties,Ф Smirnov said.
A system of control of their use is also important.
УThere should be state control over the used spare parts market so that growing demand for them doesnТt trigger car theft and worsen the criminal situation,Ф he said.
