Central bank says may pay firms leaving Russia with special bonds

MOSCOW, Apr 20 (PRIME) -- The central bank is ready to discuss paying the foreign companies leaving Russia with special bonds of the central bank instead of foreign currency, Chairwoman Elvira Nabiullina said on Thursday during a speech at the State Duma, parliament's lower chamber.

The Liberal Democratic Party suggested the bank pay the companies selling Russian property with the bonds issued in the amount of central bank's assets frozen abroad.

"This initiative could be considered in principle as a measure to protect Russian assets frozen abroad,” Nabiullina said.

“We will be ready to discuss the topic in detail, we are interested in searching and elaborating various solutions for the problem of frozen assets."
