Gazprom says arrests of assets under suits of Naftogaz were lifted

MOSCOW, Jan 20 (PRIME) -- All arrests and provisional measures imposed on the assets of Russian gas giant Gazprom in England, Wales, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg under the suits of Ukrainian energy holding Naftogaz Ukrainy have been lifted, Gazprom said in a statement on Monday.

“According to the confirmation of local consultants that Gazprom received on January 20, 2020, arrests and provisional measures imposed in England, Wales, the Netherlands and Luxembourg on request of Naftogaz Ukrainy…were lifted,” the statement read.

A December 20 gas cooperation protocol between Russia and Ukraine envisaged settlement of legal disputes between Gazprom and Naftogaz Ukrainy. Gazprom shall pay $2.9 billion under a ruling by the Stockholm Arbitration Court, and Ukraine shall withdraw $7.4 billion antimonopoly claims against Gazprom.
