Moscow court turns down cassation appeal of UlyukayevТs lawyers
MOSCOW, Aug 14 (PRIME) -- The Moscow City Court has turned down a cassation appeal filed by lawyers representing former Economic Development Minister Alexei Ulyukayev, a court spokesperson told PRIME on Tuesday.
УThe court made no significant violations of criminal procedure and criminal laws that would have had an impact on the outcome of the caseЕand that would be a reason for cancellation or changes in cassation order of the sentence and in an appellate ruling. So there is no reason to transfer the cassation appealЕto a cassation instance for consideration,Ф the representative said.
In December 2017, the Zamoskvoretsky District Court of Moscow found Ulyukayev guilty of receiving a U.S. $2 million bribe for a positive outlook on privatization of oil company Bashneft by oil major Rosneft. Ulyukayev pleaded not guilty and said it was a setup organized by Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin and the Federal Security Service.
The Moscow City Court affirmed an eight-year prison sentence and a 130 million ruble fine for Ulyukayev in April.
