Official says Russia not to leave new US sanctions unanswered

MOSCOW, Jul 25 (PRIME) -- Moscow will not leave the new anti-Russian sanctions that the U.S. may impose unanswered, Leonid Slutsky, head of the foreign affairs committee of the parliamentТs lower house State Duma, told reporters on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, U.S. Senators Lindsey Graham and Bob Menendez said they were working on a bill to impose sanctions on Russian sovereign debt among other things.

УWashington continues using the sanctions mechanism as an additional instrument for ensure its interests on the world markets. It is like some sort of a club for knocking major players out of the field. Other countries, and not just Russia, are introducing their own countermeasures against the American restrictions in an absolutely fair way,Ф he said.

УI am sure that the new sanctions will not be left unanswered in case they emerge.Ф

Such proposals are also connected to WashingtonТs infighting that intensified after the Helsinki summit of U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, and their goal is to restrict actions of Trump, he said.
