PM orders econ min to prepare plan for US duties retaliation

GORKI, Moscow Region, Jun 27 (PRIME) -- Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev ordered the Economic Development Ministry to prepare proposals to retaliate to U.S. import duties on Wednesday.

УThe U.S. administration has recently made decisions on some groups of goods for quite a wide range of countries. These measures are discriminatory as well, they can be left without consequences. The E.U. states, the PeopleТs Republic of China have retaliated and we need to think about retaliation as well,Ф Medvedev said.

The government needs to consider prolongation of retaliation against the Western sanctions for 2019, he said.

УAs you know, weТve introduced retaliatory measures against some countries on some categories of goods. They remain in force. And in accordance with the decisions made earlier by the E.U. and some other states, we need to consider prolongation of these measures for the next period. In this case, I mean 2019,Ф Medvedev said.

Medvedev also said that there is no alternative to the World Trade Organization (WTO) for Russia and that Moscow is not questioning its membership.
