PRESS: Russia to follow China in having Huawei payment service
MOSCOW, Jan 30 (PRIME) -- Russia will become the first country after China where telecom equipment giant Huawei is going to launch its own payment system for mobile devices, business daily Vedomosti reported on Tuesday, citing the Chinese company’s statement.
Huawei Pay could appear in Russia in September–November, a source familiar with Huawei managers told the daily.
A Huawei spokesperson did not disclose any details or timeframes of the project.
Huawei Pay started working in China in 2016. In order to use it, a customer should tie up their Union Pay banking card to a phone number with the installed Huawei Pay application.
