PRESS: State entities attacked by Asian hackers for years Ц experts
MOSCOW, May 13 (PRIME) -- Information security companies Positive Technologies and Kaspersky Lab have detected a cyber-gang, presumably with Chinese roots, which attacked more than 20 Russian companies and state entities for several years in order to steal data, business daily Kommersant reported on Monday.
The criminal group has been active for at least nine years. Positive Technologies is aware of more than 30 significant entities from industry, construction, power, and real estate, including 24 units in Russia. No specific victims were mentioned.
Codes exploited by the hackers reveal mentioning of Chinese developers, and some attacks had connections from IP addresses from China, while keys for certain versions of programs can be found on forums where citizens of this country communicate.
Positive Technologies said that in all cases the groupТs participants had used similar scenarios and tools.
Kaspersky Lab said it has been tracking the group since 2006 and its targets were state entities mainly in Russia and the CIS.
