PRESS: Svyaznoy-Euroset gets 236 bids for Tesla electric cars
MOSCOW, Jul 17 (PRIME) -- RussiaТs combined company of Svyaznoy and Euroset, large electronics retailers, has received 236 applications for Tesla electric cars within a month of its partnership with dealer Moscow Tesla Club, business daily Vedomosti reported on Tuesday.
The combined company shares its revenue with Moscow Tesla Club, a Svyaznoy spokesperson said, adding that one Tesla car had been already sold.
As of the beginning of 2018, there were registered 194 Tesla Modes S cars and 68 Tesla Model X cars in Russia. In JanuaryЦMay, sales of electric cars doubled on the year to 41 units, including 21 Tesla vehicles.
Moscow Tesla Club accepts bids via Svyaznoy for Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Roadster cars, which are not present on the local market yet. The dealer expects first deliveries of the Model 3 to Russia in AprilЦJune 2019 and the Roadster will be on sale in 2021.
All applications from SvyaznoyТs website are at different stages of processing, the dealerТs spokesperson said, adding that these are ordered cars, and the delivery takes from two to four months. If all applications from SvyaznoyТs website are successful, delivery will take more time.
Moscow Tesla Club has no plans to start working with other retailers.
Alexander Frolov, founder and general partner of venture capital firm Target Global, said that Tesla sells some 40,000 cars per quarter, and if the combined company will really sell 236 cars per month, it will account for 1.8% of quarter sales, which is much. The problem is that these are not real sales yet, but applications, and pent-up demand takes place, which will not be seen every month.
