Poland forces Novatek unit cede infrastructure to local firms

WARSAW, Apr 29 (PRIME) -- The Polish government has made Novatek Green Energy, a local subsidiary of Russian independent gas producer Novatek that was sanctioned by Warsaw, to transfer its gas transportation infrastructure to Polish companies, the government’s press secretary Piotr Muller told reporters on Friday.

Poland slapped sanctions several days ago on 50 Russian companies and individuals, including gas giant Gazprom and fertilizer producer Acron. Several Polish regions, where Novatek Green Energy was the supplier, stopped to receive gas.

“Today, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki ordered state companies PGNiG, PSG, and Gaz-System to start pump gas immediately into the system, whose formal owner is Novatek, based on the law on crisis management,” Muller said.

“This company is mandated by the prime minister’s order to transfer the system to the management of the companies based on the law on crisis management, and the companies will deliver gas to the regions where the firm that is tied to the Russian gas company provided its services earlier.”
