Putin urges police not to start hopeless economic crimes cases

MOSCOW, Mar 20 (PRIME) – The Russian authorities should not initiate criminal cases against entrepreneurs when there are no prospects in litigation, President Vladimir Putin told the board of the Internal Ministry on Monday.

"It is often clearly seen at the very beginning that a case has no legal prospects. Then there is no point in initiating it. We only destabilize work of entire teams of companies, which is absolutely unacceptable. Please, pay attention," Putin said.

Grounds for criminal cases initiation against businesspeople should be controlled, he said and urged for tapplication of alternative restrictive measures in cases against entrepreneurs, such as house arrest.
