MOSCOW, Aug 29 (PRIME) -- Germany’s Uniper may withdraw from Russia’s construction of the Nord Stream-2 natural gas pipelineá if Washington sanctions the project, Dow Jones News reported quoting Uniper CFO Christopher Delbruck as seen by PRIME on Wednesday.
Uniper cannot take any risks, as U.S. sanctions would mean exclusion of the company from the payment transactions and inability to use the U.S. dollars in trade operations, which is unacceptable. Still, the company hopes that everyone would remain reasonable in the current situation, Delbruck said as cited by Dow Jones News.
The Nord Stream-2 project envisages construction of two lines of a natural gas pipeline with an annual capacity of up to 55 billion cubic meters, running from the Russian shore to Germany under the Baltic Sea. Russian gas giant Gazprom will implement the project together with Germany’s Uniper and Wintershall, Royal Dutch Shell, Austria’s OMV, and France’s Engie.
