Rostec denies chances of country's SSJ100 fleet number diving

MOSCOW, May 10 (PRIME) -- Media estimates implying a reduction of the number of working SSJ100 jets in Russia by several times by 2030 are based on the most negative scenarios made in 2022 and will not come true according to the current forecasts, technological corporation Rostec said on Wednesday.

"These are old estimates, they were made in 2022 to take account of the most negative scenarios. Today, in May 2023, it is obvious that no such thing will happen. United Aircraft Corporation, Irkut and their colleagues are doing their best to provide our country with planes and for the current fleet to be serviced and continue flying," the corporation said.

Business daily Kommersant said citing a report by Irkut and United Engine Corporation that only 28 SSJ100 may remain operative by the end of 2030 compared with more than 150 flying now.

According to Rostec, foreign engines could be replaced by Russia's PD-8, but an economic feasibility study is yet to be made.
