RussiaТs major operators prepare ICT infrastructure for World Cup
MOSCOW, Jun 1 (PRIME) -- RussiaТs biggest telecommunications operators have prepared information and communications technologies (ICT) infrastructure for the coming FIFA World Cup, which the country will host on June 14ЦJuly 15, the companies said on Friday at a Digital Development Ministry meeting.
Minister Konstantin Noskov said advanced ICT services are ready for the event. Fixed-line connection with throughput capacity of 240 Gbit/s will be provided along with professional digital connection TETRA and satellite connection, among others. News conferences will be interpreted into eight languages.
УLarge-scale works were done at 230 facilities in 30 cities located in 17 regions of Russia. Russian connection networks were updated especially for the championship that made possible to raise throughput capacity by several times and organize broadcasting of sports events in the Ultra HD format for the first time,Ф Vasily Brovko, director for special commissions at state industrial corporation Rostec, said.
Mobile operator MegaFon General Director Sergei Soldatenkov said the company is ready to provide fixed-line services on 221 facilities and secure mobile coverage on 164 facilities.
Mobile operator MTS President Alexei Kornya said the company had built networks on all facilities in compliance with the plans.
FIFA matches will be played at 12 stadiums in 11 Russian cities.
