Sberbank reports possible leakage of clientsТ data
MOSCOW, Oct 3 (PRIME) -- RussiaТs national top lender Sberbank is holding an internal investigation in connection with the possible leakage of personal data of at least 200 customers, the bank said on its website on Thursday.
УLate on October 2, 2019 (Wednesday), Sberbank became aware of a possible leak of credit card accounts, which affects at least 200 clients of the bank. An internal investigation is currently underway and its results will be announced later,Ф the bank said.
The bank named the deliberate criminal actions of one of its employees as the main reason of the incident, as external penetration into the database is impossible due to its isolation from the external network.
УIn any case, the stolen information does not threaten safety of clientsТ money,Ф Sberbank said.
Kommersant business daily reported Thursday that personal data of SberbankТs clients became available on the black market. Sellers claim that they own data on 60 million credit cards, both valid and closed. The leakage could take place in late August, the daily said.
