Sudan wants Russian companies to help local mining industry

MOSCOW, Sep 11 (PRIME) -- Sudan has called on companies and investors from Russia to help its mining industry to develop, Mining Minister Hashim Ali Salim told PRIME on September 9.

“Sudan has discovered reserves of 35 metals, but it produces only 13. We call on all companies to invest in other metals and in production and processing of them. The doors are open to all Russian companies,” he said.

Sudan plans to establish a precious metals exchange until the end of the year in the capital city of Khartoum, which is to help the country solve the problem with gold smuggling. In 2017, the country’s gold production may reach 100 tonnes against 93 tonnes produced in 2016, he said.
