US says may target Russia’s fuel, energy, but fears repercussions
WASHINGTON, Feb 28 (PRIME) -- The U.S. does not rule out the possibility that sanctions due to the events in Ukraine will spread to the fuel and energy complex in Russia, but is trying to minimize the impact on the global economy, spokeswoman for the White House Jen Psaki said in an interview with the ABC TV channel on February 27.
According to Psaki, the U.S. wants to maximize the consequences for Russian President Vladimir Putin, while minimizing the impact on the American people and the world community.
The U.S. fears a shortage of fuel on the world market and rising fuel prices amid already record inflation, which U.S. consumers complain about.
