US to continue giving assets confiscated from Russians to Ukraine

WASHINGTON, Apr 14 (PRIME) -- The U.S. will continue giving the assets confiscated from Russian businessmen to Ukraine, Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland said late on Thursday during the U.S.–Ukraine Partnership Forum.

She said that Russia should take part in rebuilding Ukraine, which the World Bank estimated at U.S. $411 billion.

In February, Washington confiscated the first money, $5.4 million from Russian tycoon Konstantin Malofeyev from his account with Sunflower Bank in favor of Ukraine.

Nuland said negotiations about the fate of around $300 billion frozen assets of the Russian central bank are going on.
