Watchdog: Meta registers account on service’s website under law

MOSCOW, Feb 24 (PRIME) -- Meta, which owns social network Facebook, has registered an account on the official website of the Russian communications service in compliance with the country’s law, according to the authority’s website seen by PRIME late on Tuesday.

In force since January 1, the law seeks to localize foreign IT giants with the daily audience of over 500,000 Russian users.

They must register accounts on the official website of the communications service, place feedback forms on their information resources, and create branches, offices, or legal entities that will fully represent the interests of head firms and be the main channel of communication with the Russian regulators.
