Agency: Russians spend 2.4 tln rbl on purchase of new cars in 2018
MOSCOW, Jan 9 (PRIME) -- The Russian market of new cars amounted to 2.38 trillion rubles in 2018, exceeding a 2013 record of 2.37 trillion rubles, research agency Avtostat said on Wednesday citing preliminary data.
УThe capacity of the Russian market of new passenger cars was just over 2.38 trillion rubles in 2018. Thus, this figure exceeded the pre-crisis level for the first time. In 2012, when a record number of cars was sold in Russia, the market amounted to 2.34 trillion rubles. In 2013, it reached its peak (2.37 trillion rubles), and in 2014 it dropped again to 2.34 trillion rubles,Ф the agency said.
The weighted average price of a car rose 57% over the past five years, the agency said.
Avtostat Executive Director Sergei Udalov told PRIME earlier that the weighted average price of a new car in Russia grew 8Ц8.5% to 1.44Ц1.45 million rubles in 2018 and can rise by another 5% in 2019.
