Expert: Russian firms lose 116 bln rbl because of hackers in 2017
MOSCOW, Dec 20 (PRIME) -- Russian companies have lost 115.967 billion rubles in 2017 because of cyberattacks, independent think tank National Agency for Financial Studies (NAFI) said on Wednesday in a statement.
УIn 2017 half of Russian companies faced various threats, and 22% of them suffered financial losses. An average amount of damage of a company was at 299,940 rubles, and it depends on business scaleЕBusinessmen underestimate risks,Ф NAFI said.
Large-scale business was more exposed to attacks as compared to small and medium-sized enterprises. Top managers more frequently mentioned facts of infection of corporate computers, including with further extortion of money and e-mail hacking.
УMost of Russian businessmen believe that they wonТt be attacked by hackers in the future despite a real growth of the number of such attacks. In the current situation, these data unfortunately do not prove that companies are protected and attacks will not occur. On the contrary, the bulk of Russian companies lack a real assessment of information threats, and it obstructs the elaboration of action plans in case of possible attacks,Ф NAFI said.
