CEO pledges Moskvich 6 mass production in July–August

MOSCOW, Apr 12 (PRIME) – Mass production of the Moskvich 6 cars will start in July–August 2023, Moskvich plant CEO Dmitry Pronin told PRIME in an interview released on Wednesday.

"We have recently shown what the first sedan of our line, Moskvich 6, will look like. We will start to produce it in July–August of this year and we have scheduled the sales start for September," Pronin said.

The company also expects to start producing a mid-sized crossover in 2023.

"I think we will demonstrate what the other new model will look like soon," he said.

The model already in production, city crossover Moskvich 3, will soon become available in the comfort version, with seat heating, electrically regulated side mirrors and additional driver assistance systems.

According to Pronin, former owner of the Moskvich premises Renault left the plant taking with it all technologies and no engineering documentation, and the company organized production from scratch in less than six months.

Pronin admitted that the plant is currently only assembling cars semi knock-down, but the step was made in order to keep jobs, while more local production is planned later, and a fully unique electric car platform is planned to be developed in 2025.
