INTERVIEW: EAEU members to win from joint digital transformations
MOSCOW, Jul 2 (PRIME) -- Digitalization will modernize economies of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and speed up growth rates of their gross domestic products (GDP), and it will be more advantageous to fulfil the digital agenda jointly, Tigran Sarkisyan, chairman of the board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), said in an interview, released on Monday.
УAn input of joint implementation of the digital agenda will be almost twice higher than an input from fulfillment of national digital programs by countries of the union individually. It is desirable at the same time so that each of the countries within the framework of these global trends could find its own sphere, implement its comparative advantages,Ф Sarkisyan said.
УIt means that we should understand what accumulated competences our countries have and where they see their comparative advantages in the future.Ф
The EEC is the permanent regulatory body of the EAEU, whose members are Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia.
According to a research conducted with the World Bank, the fulfillment of the digital agenda in the EAEU will bring the union an additional growth of GDP up to 1 percentage point per year.
Savings in the sphere of services will be about U.S. $50 billion per year thanks to elimination of regulatory barriers in relations between the member states. Effect from digitization of state purchases on the regional level is estimated at about $16 billion.
УIn such a way, an expert analysis shows that digital transformation on the EAEU level is beneficial for all participants of our market,Ф Sarkisyan said.
Over the recent 10Ц15 years, EAEU members have been trying to modernize the economy, including with the help of new technologies.
УRussia is first of all state services, trackability of goods, marking, and digitization of transport. These are all new specializations, whose use will bring advantages to all,Ф he said.
Evolution of digital technologies is profitable for business as well. УTechnologies make it possible to engage all in innovative processes: a huge number of citizens and entrepreneurs of various levels will be able to exploit these (digital) platforms, prime costs of devices and technologies will fall,Ф Sarkisyan said.
УIt enables small and medium-sized businessmen to reduce transaction expenses, get access to state services and sell their products on new markets and in new digital formats. As a result, everyone will win.Ф
