Novak: Russia exports 3.5 bcm of gas to China via Sila Sibiri

MOSCOW, Nov 24 (PRIME) -- Russia has exported about 3.5 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas to China since the launch of the Sila Sibiri pipeline in late 2019, the government said in a statement on Tuesday quoting Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak.

“In 2019, oil exports to China amounted to around 66 million tonnes. Speaking of gas, we have delivered about 3.5 billion cubic meters to China since the launch of the Sila Sibiri pipeline,” Novak said at an online meeting of an energy cooperation commission of the two countries.

“Coal exports are also growing -- coal sales to China grew by 19% to 32.8 million tonnes in 2019, and in the first half of 2020 they rose by 10% to 16.25 million tonnes. Exports of power stabilized at 3.1 billion kilowatt-hours at the same time,” he said.

Gas giant Gazprom planned to export up to 5 bcm of gas to China in 2020, up to 10 bcm in 2021, and up to 15 bcm in 2022. The pipeline is to reach the projected capacity of 38 bcm in 2025.
