PM: Russia to spend 1–2% of GDP/year on carbon footprint cut

MOSCOW, Jan 13 (PRIME) -- Russia may spend 1–2% of the gross domestic product (GDP) on carbon footprint cuts per year until 2050, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at the Gaidar Forum on Thursday.

"The all-encompassing measures of carbon footprint reduction are preliminarily estimated at 1–2% of the GDP until 2050," Mishustin said.

He added that a program adopted in 2021 is aimed at reaching carbon neutrality by 2060. It would include full recovery of cut forests and development of alternative energy sources. The program includes a 4 billion ruble per year financing program for the companies.
