President says Russian gas price for Moldova to fall from Oct 1
CHISINAU, Sep 9 (PRIME) -- Moldova has agreed with Russia on a lower gas price from October 1, President Igor Dodon said on September 7 after negotiations with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
УWe have agreed with Putin that tariffs will not grow this year, and a decline is possible next year. We have agreed in principle and have agreed on further cooperation steps in the gas industry, which means I can announce already that the tariffs for the end consumers will not rise. The price of Russian gas shipped to Moldova will decrease right from October 1,Ф Dodon said.
Moldova buys gas from Russia under a 2008 deal, which expires on December 31, 2019. Dodon earlier sent a letter to the Russian authorities asking for a discount on gas.
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the gas negotiations with Moldova are almost complete. УVarious aspects of bilateral relations were discussed at the meeting, including the gas topic. The negotiations are close to finalization, the offered terms suit us as a whole,Ф he said.
