Putin says Russia proactively preserves forests
MOSCOW, Nov 2 (PRIME) -- Russia is taking proactive steps to preserve its forests, President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday at a meeting in the framework of a climatic summit of the UN.
"About 20% of the global forests are located in Russia. We are taking the most serious and energetic steps to conserve them, we improve the management of forestry, fighting illegal cuts and forest fires, raising the area of forest recovery. We are consistently raising financing of the measures," Putin said.
